WEEK 3 - 5 - Scenic Design (drafting/sketching) - for Fall Play

Let's get started on the production...

10 pts for each sheet of images requested by the teacher 
10 pts for each page of thumbnails requested
10 pts for each page of rough drafts requested

WEEK 3
Fall Play (INTRO)  
Begin reading the script
Objective: Students will be able to create design that is based on the story being told in the script.
Activity: Begin table read of the fall play script
1.)    Read the first scene(s) of the fall play script 
2.)  Talk about style/location/period/tech requirements

DESIGN WITHOUT RESEARCH - How much can you create from your own memory banks?
20 pts for all drawings completed and filed

THUMBNAILS (revisited)
The students are given a rough idea of the possible blueprint
(frontal elevations) on 8 1/2 X 11 paper folded in 4 squares
       Mr. Schaefer mentions: stage specs / teaser/main drape / walls and floors

DESIGN A WALL – 4 x 8 wall design
Objective: To put relevent and original ideas that represent the described "textures"
Activity: Drawing one 4 x 8 flat design - with a focus on TEXTURE
      3.)    Students will draw 4 thumbnails - (TEXTURE suggestions: rock/stone/brick)  
      4.)    Explore the options for things that could be on a this particular wall.         (torches/flags/windows/curtains/shields/crests/etc)

DESIGN A FONT - The letter "H"
Pre-Activity: FONT Creation (PR marketing - T-shirt design)
      1.)    Students will begin creating their own font – with the letter “H”
      2.)    They will draw 4 thumbnails of new fonts using a capital “H”
a.)    They will look at examples of T-shirt silk screening from members of the class

WEEK 4 and 5

DESIGN A WALL for the Fall Play Hamlet 
(3 separate drawings -  1/2 sheet of paper each - in pencil -  walls/archways/steps-

Objective: To develop a relevant and original idea that represent the script's description
Activity: Drawing - with a focus on the elements found in their research online.
      3.)    Students will draw a rough draft of each major section of the set's blueprint    
      4.)    Explore the options for things that could be on a this particular part of the set         (torches/flags/windows/curtains/shields/crests/etc)

DESIGN A T-shirt - (100pts) for the Fall Play
