AUDITIONS
Objective – to be able to compare and contrast the two main types of auditions
1.) Open - actors get to watch the other actors audition
2.) Closed - the actors are locked out and can not watch the other actors.
Sub-Objective : The students should be able to identify the pros and cons of both types
how we cut or prepare material as a director for all types of
auditions.

2.) Example of what we audition for - VIEW : a past show: ex. Frankenstein “montage video” – or any past show in the auditorium at WGHS (visit www.wgpastshows.blogspot.com)
Objective: Students should be able to recognize a play cutting and know how they are used in an audition
Circle up on stage: Using the Hamlet cuttings: have variuos students give a reading and we talk out
the audition process for both types.

types of audition materials

Coach a sample audition to show how they can fell for
the actor and director/casting table
CALL BACKS
Objective: Students will understand the purpose and reasoning for bringing the actors back and narrowing down the number of actors being considered for a role.

The types of call back auditions (new cuttings (maybe a scene to test chemistry/exercises)

Each student creates a file folder with their
name on the sleeve
