WEEK 2 - Production Meeting - The Fairytale Reinvention

MOCK Production meetings
FAIRY TALE ADAPTATION
50 pts for the preparation and notes prepared for the meeting
25 pts for time spent on stage pitching the show and asking questions to the teams 

Objective A – the individual student will be able to carry on a basic discussion with a small group and develop a new interpretation of a classic story. 
Project preparation DAY 
Activity:  The teams must decide on a fairytale from the list on the board
1.)    Students will receive a team sheet that they will fill out as a team that covers the broad choices for the adaptation.
2.)    Using the notes from the week: Students will then receive a list of questions that pertain to one job. They must answer the questions for that job title
3.)    The students must then turn in the team’s work as a packet (stapled)
 20 Activity pts – collaborate discussion on a topic / writing / design

Objective B o- students will talk to the class individually but sitting on stage with their group. They will talk about their adaptation of a popular fairytale for the stage, budget, vision of the show, scheduling and reasons for certain choices in their adaptation. Each student in the group will hold a position and speak as one of the top three members of the theatrical hierarchy. (producer/director/tech director)

Project Pitch DAY 1
Mock PRODUCTION meetings - LIVE
Activity: Students hold a 7 minute production meeting on their fairytale adaptation in front of the class.
1.)    Using their notes and answers they will share out their thoughts on the project as one of the members of the production team they were assigned.
2.)    They will field questions from the house about their choices/design
3.)    They will turn their packets back in at the end for assessment and talley of funds
$1000.00 Drama bucks will be awarded/split between the best production proposals
25 Activity pts – panel discussion/ fielding questions

INTRO TO AUDITIONS
Obj: students will be able to distinguish between the various types and styles of auditions.
Activity : Mini lecture on Audition styles/types – students take notes
25 Activity pts – panel discussion/ fielding questions / lecture / notes

Objective: Try to organize your thoughts about the specific job
Follow up activity: We will come back to the class and you will need to explain the role of the job title you were assigned. You will fill in a graphic organizer for each of the jobs you didn’t study.
